Student Poetry from Our Workshop

2021 Poetry Slam Results

Beginning June 14, HOLLA! was proud to have author and poet, Phillip Shabazz, complete a week-long residency. During his time with us, he facilitated a poetry workshop with some of Anson County’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Participating students learned about and wrote various types of poems. These included lunes, odes, and acrostic.

On Friday, June 18 the workshop concluded with the students competing in a poetry slam. The winners were Devonte Coit, Lily Khounnoraj, and De’Myriun Little. Below, you will find some of the poems they wrote.
